[Video] 01st Shot

[At first, there's an up close and personal view of a Snivy, curiously fiddling with the Pokegear. A woman calls and the grass-type drops it to go scampering off toward the source. A moment later, Mom Lalonde picks it up.]

Excuse her. Curiosity and mischief bundled into one creature seems to be a combination that yields...interesting results. One of them being the theft of communication devices.

[She shrugs, not really bothered by this. Actually, she looks amused by it.]

That being said, where am I? Not to be ungrateful for another chance at life, but this isn't quite what I expected to end up in.

[The Snivy climbs up onto Mom's shoulder, glancing haughtily at the 'gear.]

Though, the creatures we were given are pretty cute, I have to say. Wherever this is, it's not so bad.

[It can be a hell of a lot worse, anyway.]

Unfortunately. She's a little...[Kanaya isn't sure what to say. A human who thinks they are her lusus is strange.]

Maybe. I'm used to significantly more vicious animals.

Odd? She's apparently like that to everyone, even grown adults who may or may not be older than her.

[Kanaya just nods.]

My island was full of vicious creatures of the day.

What kind of creatures?

[Kanaya has totally captured all of her attention. This is a fascinating topic!]

Corpsebeasts and other things. [A faint frown.]

It doesn't really matter they're all dead now.

[Sburb sucks like that.]

Would you mind telling me a little about yourself?

[Yeah. Kanaya blinks in surprise at that, and accidentally hugs her Budew a bit too tightly, making it squirm and fuss at her.]

Uhm. I guess. Why?

Curiosity, and you're one of Rosie's friends.

[Kanaya isn't really used to talking about herself. Generally she makes other people do that. But she and Rose were friends, that was certainly true. And possibly other things maybe, there had been a date and...]

[She forced herself to stop thinking and took a breath.]

Uh. I am a troll, and I was a rainbow drinker until I was brought here. Which is like a human vampire. Uh. Maybe I shouldn't have started with that.

[A breath.]

I make clothes?

A troll who can make clothes sounds like an interesting person to me! [She's sincere, too.] Did you design and create them yourself?

Yes, of course. [Something she is on slightly firmer ground with.]

Fashion isn't very important to trolls, but I always thought it was. I've been making them as long as I can remember.

Well, it's certainly important for humans. That's truly very impressive, though. You must have a lot of patience!

[The understatement of the sweep right there.]

I...suppose so. It never feels boring to me when I am doing it though.

Well, I'll have to see about commissioning you for some clothes at some point in the future!

[Blink. Blink blink.]

I...would be honored, if you really want me to make you something.

Most certainly! I'll be sure to give you a call when I've got something in mind.

[She nods her head. Wow. Rose's Lusus was such a classy lady and she wanted Kanaya to make her clothes! Okay, no glowing, just...just conversation.]

Uhm. You have spoken to Rose?

[She nods.]

A little, yes. I've gotten the feeling that she's been here for a long time, but I haven't pressed for details just yet.

[She nods slowly.] Many of the people I have spoken to from home seem to have been here a while...

It's actually sort of strange. I spoke to Rose only a little while before I was brought here, and Karkat only a few hours before that and yet...they've both been here for ages.

I can certainly see how disconcerting that would be. The only explanation I've gotten about it is "time shenanigans."

[Kanaya darkens for a moment at that.] Me too.

I'm not really very good with those.
